Description

Apparently covering the entire floor of a small room. This monumental mosaic panel depicts an ornate geometric composition dominated by the image of a bird. Executed in a combination of brown, gray, and black tesserae against a white background, the bird strolls casually to the right with a flowering branch behind it.

Framing this central medallion is a large circle within which interwined bands create a guilloche pattern and dome-shaped areas bearing stylized images of drinking cups. The corners of the mosaic are filled with triangular forms with colored bands.
