Description

Kohl once filled the inside of this vessel. It was produced by pulverizing galena (lead sulfide). It has been applied as an eyeliner and mascara by women of most civilizations of the ancient world.

The vessel decorated with two protruding animal heads on opposite sides. The cosmetic applicator surmounted by the figure of a bird remains inserted in the vessel’s neck.
